Simon Rumley

Simon Rumley is one of the UK's leading independent filmmakers. Having directed a handful of shorts, he completed the structurally unique Strong Language which was released by the BFI in 2000. This was the first part of a youth trilogy set in London during the 1990s which was followed by The Truth Game and Club Le Monde, both of which were released theatrically in the UK and garnered top critical acclaim.

In 2004 he directed the award winning short The Handyman starring Greta Scacchi which won Best Short at Sitges in 2006 as well as a handful of other prizes. In 2005 he wrote, produced and directed the genre-bending cult phenomenon The Living and the Dead. This premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival in 2006 and went on to play over 40 festivals worldwide, picking up 16 awards including best film at Austin's FantasticFest and Special Jury Prize at Sitges. In 2009 Rumley travelled to Austin, Texas to shoot Red White & Blue, a slacker revenge movie starring Noah Taylor. This also premiered in Rotterdam, received its North American Premiere at SXSW and has since won various awards around the world including Best International Feature at Fantasia and Best Film at Boston Underground.
